NITDA Champions Digital Collaboration to Drive Nigeria’s Economic Diversification

The (NITDA) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s digital economy through collaboration and innovation, following the hosting of its IT Stakeholder Engagement and Ecosystem Development Programme.

The event, themed “Creating Opportunities, Breaking Boundaries: Towards Digitalisation and Entrepreneurial Evolution,” brought together key players across government, private sector, academia, and civil society to explore strategies for advancing the nation’s digital ecosystem.

Speaking on behalf of the Director General, , the Director of Zonal Office Coordination, Mr. Babajide Ajayi, described digitalisation as a critical driver of economic diversification. He noted the need for Nigeria to reduce dependence on traditional sectors by leveraging technology to unlock new economic opportunities and equip citizens with relevant digital skills.

Ajayi highlighted ongoing efforts by NITDA to achieve this vision, including the implementation of its Strategic Roadmap and Action Plan (SRAP 2.0) and the National Digital Literacy Framework (NDLF). He also pointed to initiatives such as the Office for Nigerian Digital Innovation (ONDI) and the National Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (NCAIR) as key pillars in strengthening the country’s innovation ecosystem.

The agency used the platform to call for stronger collaboration among stakeholders, emphasizing that partnerships remain essential to driving inclusive growth and national development. NITDA reiterated its commitment to creating an enabling environment where innovation can flourish and entrepreneurial potential can be fully realized.
