The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has emphasised the need for deeper collaboration among stakeholders to accelerate innovation and inclusive growth within Nigeria’s digital ecosystem.
This was the focus of its IT Stakeholder Engagement and Ecosystem Development Programme, described by the agency as a strategic platform for fostering partnerships and advancing national development through technology.
The programme, themed “Creating Opportunities, Breaking Boundaries: Towards Digitalisation and Entrepreneurial Evolution,” convened participants from government, the private sector, academia, and civil society to explore opportunities in Nigeria’s evolving digital landscape.
Representing the Director-General of NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, the Director of Zonal Office Coordination, Babajide Ajayi, described digitalisation as a critical pathway to economic diversification. He stressed the urgency of reducing dependence on traditional sectors by leveraging technology to unlock new economic frontiers and empower citizens with relevant digital skills.
Ajayi noted that the agency is driving this vision through key frameworks such as the Strategic Roadmap and Action Plan (SRAP 2.0) and the National Digital Literacy Framework (NDLF), while strengthening the innovation ecosystem through initiatives like the Office for Nigerian Digital Innovation (ONDI) and the National Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (NCAIR).
The agency reaffirmed its commitment to building an enabling environment where innovation thrives and entrepreneurial ambitions can be fully realised, while calling for sustained collaboration across all sectors to support Nigeria’s digital transformation agenda.
