The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has spotlighted the power of collaboration between government institutions and emerging startups as a critical driver of social and economic transformation in Nigeria.
This message took center stage at the Nigeria Satellite Week 2026, organised by Nigerian Communications Satellite Limited (NigComSat), where stakeholders gathered under the theme “Harnessing Space Technology for an Extraordinary Nigeria.”
Representing the Director General of NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa, the agency’s Director of Stakeholder Management and Partnership, Aristotle Onumo, delivered a keynote address focused on strengthening ties between public institutions and innovation-driven startups.
Onumo emphasized that effective collaboration is more than a growth strategy—it is a social impact tool capable of expanding digital inclusion, creating jobs, and unlocking opportunities for young innovators across the country. He described this synergy as the “secret sauce” for transforming local ideas into globally relevant solutions that can uplift communities and bridge development gaps.
Reaffirming NITDA’s commitment, he pointed to frameworks such as the Nigeria Startup Act and programmes like the IdeaHatch Programme as key enablers of innovation, designed to support entrepreneurs, improve connectivity, and stimulate sustainable economic growth.
The event reinforced a growing consensus among stakeholders that harnessing space technology and fostering cross-sector partnerships can play a pivotal role in addressing societal challenges and accelerating Nigeria’s journey toward inclusive national development.
