The Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa, has reaffirmed the Agency’s strategic commitment to unlocking the vast potential of Nigeria’s creative economy through deliberate digital transformation efforts.
Speaking at Moment 2026, Inuwa—represented by the Director of the DG’s Office, Dr Ayodeji Eniola—outlined a forward-looking vision centered on empowering creators, innovators, and entrepreneurs with the digital tools needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving global marketplace.
He described Nigeria’s creative sector as a powerful engine for economic growth, job creation, and youth empowerment, noting that it occupies a critical position in the country’s broader strategy to drive innovation-led development. According to him, the convergence of technology and creativity presents unprecedented opportunities for Nigerian talents to scale their ideas beyond local boundaries and compete effectively on the global stage.
Inuwa further highlighted NITDA’s sustained investments in digital infrastructure as a cornerstone of this transformation. These efforts include strengthening indigenous cloud capabilities and accelerating broadband expansion to bridge access gaps, particularly for underserved communities. He stressed that improving connectivity and local data capacity is essential to ensuring that creatives—from filmmakers and designers to digital content producers—can seamlessly create, distribute, and monetise their work in today’s digital economy.
Framing the initiative as a social impact imperative, he noted that democratizing access to digital resources would not only boost productivity within the creative industry but also foster inclusive growth, enabling young Nigerians across diverse regions to participate meaningfully in the digital ecosystem.
The Agency’s intervention, he added, reflects a broader commitment to building a resilient and inclusive digital future—one where innovation is accessible, talent is nurtured, and Nigeria’s creative outputs gain stronger visibility and value in the global digital landscape.
