Lagos has officially been named the host city for the 2027 edition of the Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF), following the signing of the Host Country Agreement this week. The event, attended by officials from the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) and key trade partners, marks a major milestone in Africa’s efforts to deepen continental trade integration.
The IATF, launched to advance the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) agenda, has grown into a premier platform connecting African businesses, investors, and policymakers. It provides a space where trade agreements, investment opportunities, and partnerships are not just discussed but brought to fruition, translating continental integration into tangible economic growth.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Anne Ezeh, Global Strategic Communications and Brand Architect, highlighted the importance of Lagos as a host city. “Bringing IATF to Lagos matters. As one of Africa’s most dynamic commercial centres and a gateway for enterprise and innovation, the city reflects the energy and entrepreneurial spirit that continues to drive trade across the continent,” she said.
Organizers emphasized that the 2027 fair will focus on strengthening intra-African trade, building regional value chains, and supporting Africa’s path toward economic sovereignty and industrialization. By showcasing African products and services and facilitating strategic partnerships, the fair aims to create new markets and unlock growth opportunities for businesses across the continent.
Since its launch, IATF has been instrumental in connecting African entrepreneurs with investors, governments, and development institutions, helping turn trade integration from policy into real-world economic impact.
