The Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), Khalil Halilu, has announced that the agency is nearing completion of a dedicated showroom aimed at showcasing its technological innovations and engineering solutions to Nigerians.
Halilu disclosed that the initiative forms part of NASENI’s broader reform agenda to reposition the agency from being primarily research-focused to becoming a product-driven institution that delivers practical technologies and solutions for national development.
According to him, the upcoming NASENI Showroom will provide a platform where members of the public, industry stakeholders, investors, and policymakers can see and interact with technologies developed by the agency and its partner institutions.
He explained that the facility will display a range of NASENI innovations, products, and engineering solutions designed to support key sectors of the Nigerian economy, including manufacturing, renewable energy, agriculture, transportation, and digital technology.
Halilu noted that making these innovations visible to Nigerians is a critical step toward building public confidence in locally developed technology and encouraging wider adoption of Nigerian-made solutions.
He added that the showroom will also serve as an important engagement hub where entrepreneurs, researchers, and potential investors can explore collaboration opportunities with the agency.
The NASENI boss emphasized that innovation should not remain confined to laboratories and research reports but must translate into products that people can see, experience, and use in their daily lives.
The initiative is expected to further strengthen NASENI’s mandate of promoting indigenous technology development, supporting local manufacturing, and reducing Nigeria’s dependence on imported technologies.
Analysts say the move aligns with the federal government’s broader push to accelerate industrialisation, stimulate homegrown innovation, and expand the role of science and engineering in driving economic growth.
The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure has in recent years intensified efforts to commercialise its research outputs, develop market-ready products, and build partnerships with the private sector to scale locally developed technologies across the country.
