As part of ongoing efforts to deepen Nigeria’s digital transformation and strengthen the national innovation ecosystem, the Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, has engaged innovators, policymakers, founders, and ecosystem leaders at the Future Map Foundation Roundtable 1.0 (North-West Edition).
The roundtable, which focused on building a strong, inclusive, and sustainable innovation ecosystem for Northern Nigeria, provided a strategic platform for stakeholders to exchange ideas on enhancing regional innovation policies, promoting effective public-private partnerships, and creating viable pathways for scaling locally developed solutions beyond their immediate communities.
During the engagement, Abdullahi reaffirmed NITDA’s commitment to supporting innovation that is people-centred, locally relevant, and globally competitive. He noted that such an approach aligns with the Federal Government’s broader digital transformation agenda, which prioritises inclusive growth, economic diversification, and technology-driven development.
Participants at the forum explored practical strategies for unlocking the innovation potential of the North-West region, emphasising the need for collaboration, trust, and coordinated action among government, the private sector, academia, and the startup ecosystem.
By convening key stakeholders around a shared vision, the Future Map Foundation Roundtable reinforced the importance of collective responsibility in accelerating Nigeria’s digital economy and positioning the North-West as a critical hub for innovation-led growth.
