The Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has been honoured with a prestigious traditional title during a cultural ceremony in the Bonny Kingdom, as part of a series of engagements across the state.
Governor Fubara attended the Iria celebration of the wife of the Amanyanabo of Grand Bonny, Edward Asimini William Dappa Pepple III, where Her Majesty, Queen Paula Tamunoiprinye Pepple, was celebrated for her elegant display of Bonny cultural heritage. The governor described the occasion as memorable and rich in tradition.
During the event, the Bonny Council of Chiefs conferred on Governor Fubara the revered title of Amaopusenibo of Bonny Kingdom, an honour he described as rare and deeply cherished. He used the opportunity to reaffirm his administration’s commitment to accelerating development across Rivers State, assuring the people of Bonny Kingdom that specific projects would be executed in the area by 2026.
Earlier in the day, the governor paid a condolence visit to Buguma in Asari-Toru Local Government Area, where he attended the funeral service of late Hon. Mrs. Agbani Roseline Amachree. He commiserated with the Amachree family, including Hon. Ojukaye Flag Amachree, on the loss of their matriarch.
Governor Fubara later concluded his engagements by hosting the leadership of Ohaneze Ndi-Igbo Worldwide to a dinner, underscoring his administration’s commitment to unity, inclusiveness, and inter-ethnic cooperation within Rivers State.
