St. Thomas Aquinas Seminary, Ihitte, reinforced its standing as a center of high-quality education as it hosted the 2025 Excellent Brothers’ Academic Award, an annual recognition of outstanding academic performance across Okigwe Diocesan minor seminaries.
The awards were presented during a Holy Mass presided over by the Bishop of Okigwe Diocese, Most Rev. Solomon A. Amatu, which also marked the investiture of new seminarians. The event celebrated the Seminary’s continued commitment to intellectual and moral formation.
This year’s top honorees were:
JSS 1: Udeh Victor Chinedu
JSS 2: Eze Ezechimere Emmanuel
JSS 3: Agim Samuel Chukwukadibia
The Rector of St. Thomas Aquinas Seminary, Very Rev. Fr. Mark Okocha, praised the students for their achievements, noting that their success reflects the school’s holistic educational approach. “Our goal is to shape young minds who excel not only academically but also spiritually and morally,” he said. “These awards affirm the hard work of both the students and the formators who guide them daily.”
He also commended the Excellent Brothers’ Association—the 2008 alumni set of St. Peter’s Seminary, Okigwe—for their steadfast support. “We are grateful to the Excellent Brothers for sustaining this initiative. Their commitment shows the value of seminary formation and the lasting bond it creates,” Fr. Okocha added.
Members of the Association, who sponsor the annual awards, emphasized their mission to promote steady academic growth within the seminaries. Their contributions continue to strengthen learning standards and inspire younger seminarians.
With consistent achievements and strong alumni engagement, St. Thomas Aquinas Seminary remains a model institution for quality education and character formation in the region.
