The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has been recognized as one of the top five best-performing Federal Government agencies for 2025 by the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC), under the Transparency and Efficiency category. The announcement was made during the PEBEC Awards and Gala Night held at the State House Banquet Hall, Abuja.
The NCC received the award alongside other top-performing agencies, including the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board, which emerged as the overall best-performing agency; the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, which secured second place; as well as the Nigeria Customs Service and the Nigerian Ports Authority.
The award recognizes government agencies that demonstrate excellence in transparency, operational efficiency, and accountability in public service delivery. The NCC was celebrated for its sustained commitment to openness, regulatory excellence, and fostering an enabling environment for the telecommunications sector.
Receiving the award on behalf of the Commission, Dr. Aminu Maida, Executive Vice Chairman/CEO of the NCC, highlighted that the recognition reflects the Commission’s dedication to regulatory transparency and the promotion of a competitive telecommunications industry. Dr. Maida emphasized that the award validates the reforms implemented by the Commission and motivates the agency to continue enhancing service quality and operational standards.
He reaffirmed the NCC’s commitment to creating an environment where telecom operators can thrive, attract investment, and provide consumers with diverse, high-quality services. The Commission also plans to deepen collaboration with stakeholders to ensure sustained progress and shared success in the sector.
Speaking at the event, PEBEC Director-General Zahrah Mustapha-Audu noted that the awards celebrate reform champions who have gone beyond mere compliance to embrace excellence as the standard for public service delivery. She highlighted that the progress achieved reflects a collective commitment to making Nigeria a competitive and predictable destination for business in Africa.

He stressed that reforms championed by the council are aimed at improving the ease of doing business and restoring confidence in government institutions.
The event served as a platform to acknowledge agencies and leaders who have driven impactful reforms, underscoring the administration’s focus on accountability, data-driven decision-making, and collaborative governance to strengthen Nigeria’s business environment.
