Moniepoint CEO, Tosin Eniolorunda, Honored with “Friend of Humanity Award” by OAU’s Mechanical Engineering Department

The spirit of innovation and humanity took center stage yesterday as Tosin Eniolorunda, Co-Founder and Group CEO of Moniepoint Inc, was honored with the prestigious “Friend of Humanity Award” by the African Pro-Humanity Technology Hub, in collaboration with the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife.

Although Eniolorunda could not attend the ceremony in person, a delegation from the university’s Mechanical Engineering Department paid a courtesy visit to Moniepoint Group headquarters, where the award was presented to the company’s leadership team on his behalf.

The visit carried a special sense of homecoming, as several Moniepoint team members are proud alumni of OAU. The delegation—comprising the department’s current Head of Department, the Hub’s founder, the former HOD, and even Eniolorunda’s former academic supervisor—reconnected over shared memories, mentorship, and the enduring influence of the university’s academic excellence.

In a statement, Eniolorunda expressed deep gratitude for the recognition, describing it as “a meaningful reminder of how education, mentorship, and purpose-driven innovation can come together to create lasting impact.” He emphasized Moniepoint’s continued commitment to supporting initiatives that empower young innovators and nurture the next generation of changemakers across Africa.

The visit also opened discussions on potential partnerships between Moniepoint, the OAU Mechanical Engineering Department, and the African Pro-Humanity Technology Hub, aimed at strengthening research collaboration, promoting STEM education, and fostering innovation-driven entrepreneurship.

The “Friend of Humanity Award” celebrates individuals who exemplify empathy, leadership, and a dedication to societal advancement through technology and education—values that align deeply with Eniolorunda’s personal journey and Moniepoint’s mission to drive financial inclusion and empowerment across Africa.

As the delegation departed, one thing was clear: this was more than just a courtesy visit—it was a celebration of how education and purpose continue to intersect to power Africa’s progress.
