In line with its commitment to the safety and well-being of all residents, the Lagos State Government has continued to invest in technology-driven solutions that make life safer, easier, and more responsive for millions of Lagosians. One of the shining examples of this effort is the Lagos State Emergency Call Centre, a vital hub that operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week โ ensuring that no call for help goes unanswered.
With an average of over 1.8 million calls handled every month, the Call Centre represents a major milestone in Lagos Stateโs vision of a smart, secure, and people-centered city. The facility serves as the first point of contact in emergencies โ from road accidents and fire outbreaks to medical crises, robberies, and other urgent incidents โ connecting citizens swiftly to the appropriate emergency response agencies such as the Police, Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS), and others.
At the heart of this success is the State Governmentโs strategic partnership with LeapSoft Technology Limited, an indigenous ICT company that has provided technical and operational support to the centre for over four years. This collaboration underscores Lagos Stateโs commitment to empowering local tech companies while delivering world-class public services.
โLagos is a megacity with over 20 million residents โ dynamic, vibrant, and full of opportunities. But with that comes the need for efficient systems that can respond swiftly in times of emergency,โ said Abiodun Adeoye, Managing Director of LeapSoft Limited. โWe are proud to support the Lagos State Government in making sure help is always within reach.โ
Through this partnership, the Call Centre maintains a team of well-trained call agents who operate round the clock in three shifts, ensuring that every distress call โ whether made to 112 or 767 โ is received, documented, and escalated to the relevant emergency unit without delay. The agents are trained not just in technical communication but also in empathy, calmness, and professionalism, providing reassurance and guidance to callers in their most critical moments.
According to Mrs. Joy Amadi, Call Centre Manager, โOur toll-free lines are accessible to every Lagosian, irrespective of their network provider. We work hand-in-hand with the Stateโs Emergency Operations Centre to ensure immediate coordination and dispatch whenever a serious call comes in โ whether itโs a building collapse, accident, or health-related emergency.โ
The Lagos State Government continues to upgrade the centreโs infrastructure, incorporating modern ICT tools, data analytics, and automation to improve response time and efficiency. The goal is simple โ to ensure that every Lagos resident, visitor, and business can rely on a robust, responsive, and compassionate emergency management system.
Beyond the technology, however, lies the human story โ the story of Lagosians helping Lagosians. Each day, hundreds of dedicated call agents, system engineers, and emergency responders work in harmony to make the city safer for everyone.
Mr. Badeji Oladipo Lawrence, CFO of LeapSoft, emphasized that the companyโs work with the State Government goes beyond technology. โWeโre proud to partner with Lagos State to deliver not just ICT solutions but real human impact. Every call answered represents a life potentially saved. Thatโs the value of this collaboration.โ
As the State continues to evolve into a truly smart megacity, Governor [Insert current Governorโs name if desired]โs administration remains committed to leveraging local innovation, partnerships, and technology to improve public safety and service delivery.
For the Lagos State Government, the Emergency Call Centre is not just a facility โ itโs a promise: that in every moment of need, help is only one call away.
