Air Peace Expands Fleet With Arrival of Boeing 737-700 NG Aircraft

Nigeria’s largest carrier, Air Peace, has further strengthened its fleet with the arrival of a new dry-leased Boeing 737-700 Next Generation aircraft, underscoring the airline’s continued investment in modern aviation infrastructure and its strategic vision to enhance connectivity across Nigeria, Africa, and key international destinations.

The reception ceremony, held at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, drew a distinguished gathering of industry leaders and diplomatic representatives. In attendance were the Chairman of Air Peace, Dr. Allen Ifechukwu Onyema; the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Hon. Festus Keyamo, SAN; officials of AerCap, the global aircraft leasing company; representatives of Boeing Commercial Airplanes; and the Irish Ambassador to Nigeria, His Excellency Mr. Peter Ryan. Also present were financial partners from Fidelity Bank, led by the Group Managing Director, Dr. Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe.

Speaking at the event, Air Peace Chairman, Dr. Onyema, said the acquisition demonstrates the airline’s unwavering commitment to delivering safe, reliable, and affordable air travel while promoting national cohesion.

“This aircraft is not just an addition to our fleet; it is a reaffirmation of our mission to unite Nigeria, connect Africa, and bridge continents through peace, growth, and excellence,” Onyema stated. He emphasized that Air Peace remains intentional about expanding its route network and enhancing passenger experience through modern, efficient aircraft.

Minister Keyamo commended Air Peace for what he described as a consistent demonstration of patriotism and private-sector leadership in the aviation sector. He noted that the Federal Government remains committed to supporting airlines that are pushing boundaries and improving Nigeria’s competitiveness in global aviation.

“This is another remarkable step from Air Peace, a truly Nigerian brand that continues to project the country positively across the world,” the Minister said. “Fleet expansion such as this aligns with our broader national goals of strengthening aviation safety, boosting economic growth, and positioning Nigeria as a regional aviation hub.”

The Boeing 737-700 NG is globally recognized for its fuel efficiency, advanced cockpit technology, reduced maintenance cost, and improved passenger comfort, making it suitable for both domestic and regional operations. Its arrival is expected to support Air Peace’s growing network, including routes across West and Central Africa as well as upcoming intercontinental services.

Representatives of AerCap and Boeing Commercial Airplanes expressed satisfaction with their partnership with Air Peace, describing the airline as a rapidly growing carrier with a clear strategic direction. Fidelity Bank’s CEO, Dr. Onyeali-Ikpe, reiterated the bank’s commitment to financing transformational Nigerian enterprises, noting that Air Peace remains a key example of indigenous aviation success.

With this acquisition, Air Peace consolidates its position as the largest carrier in West and Central Africa, continuing a growth trajectory that includes ongoing orders for Embraer E2 jets and Boeing 737 MAX aircraft.

The airline reaffirmed that its expansion efforts are aimed at deepening regional integration, improving passenger options, and championing Nigeria’s presence in global aviation.
