The Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) participated in the 2025 Education Conference organized by the Catholic Archdiocese of Abuja, held under the theme “Global Compact on Education: Reviving Our Commitment to the Younger Generation.”
The conference, hosted by the Metropolitan Archbishop of Abuja, the Most Reverend Ignatius A. Kaigama, convened education administrators, teachers, and policymakers from Catholic schools across the Federal Capital Territory. Participants explored innovative strategies to strengthen educational values and address emerging challenges affecting young learners in a rapidly evolving digital world.
Representing the NDPC at the event, Mrs. Adaobi Nwankwo, the Commission’s Head of Innovation, highlighted the growing importance of data protection, privacy, and digital ethics in education. She emphasized that as schools increasingly adopt digital learning tools and platforms, it has become crucial to ensure that students, teachers, and institutions understand the principles of responsible data handling and online safety.
The NDPC’s participation underscores its broader mandate to promote data protection awareness and responsible digital citizenship within Nigeria’s education sector. Through its ongoing outreach and advocacy efforts, the Commission aims to empower young people to make informed decisions about their data, protect their personal information, and contribute to a safer, more trustworthy digital environment.
