The National Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC), Dr Vincent Olatunji, has been inducted into the Ekiti State University (EKSU) Alumni Hall of Fame in recognition of his outstanding contributions to national development and digital transformation.
The honour was conferred during the 12th Global Convention of the EKSU Alumni Association, held at the university’s main auditorium in Ado-Ekiti. The event brought together eminent alumni, scholars, and dignitaries to celebrate excellence and leadership among graduates of the institution.
Dr Olatunji, who also delivered the convention lecture titled “Beyond the Walls: Building Digital Bridges for Impact,” expressed profound joy at returning to his alma mater as a lecturer and honouree. He congratulated the Executive Governor of Ekiti State, His Excellency Biodun Oyebanji, and the global alumni body for their continued contributions to the growth of the university and the development of society.
In his keynote address, Dr Olatunji underscored the importance of building digital bridges that promote collaboration, inclusivity, and innovation. He noted that technology remains a critical enabler for connecting people, ideas, and opportunities—driving socio-economic growth, national progress, and global integration.
He also highlighted key strategies for advancing digital impact, including effective policy formulation, human capital development, sustainable funding, and institutional collaboration. Dr Olatunji emphasised that data protection and privacy are fundamental pillars for ensuring trust, accountability, and sustainability in an increasingly digital world.
The NDPC boss called on universities, alumni, students, government institutions, and development partners to play active roles in building a connected and inclusive digital ecosystem that empowers citizens and enhances national competitiveness.
Dr Olatunji was formally inducted into the Hall of Fame by the Chancellor of EKSU, Dr Tunji Olowolafe, alongside the Global President of the EKSU Alumni Association, Ambassador Seyi Idowu. Other distinguished inductees included Ekiti State Governor, His Excellency Biodun Oyebanji; Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye; the Olowo of Owo Kingdom, His Imperial Majesty Oba Ajibade Ogunoye III; and the Vice-Chancellor of EKSU, Professor Joseph Ayodele, among others.
The event further reinforced EKSU’s reputation as a cradle of excellence, celebrating alumni who continue to make significant impacts across governance, academia, business, and technology—both within Nigeria and globally.
