The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has announced the introduction of its annual Public Relations, Reputation, Ideas, Concepts and Excellence (PRICE) Awards — a landmark initiative designed to celebrate outstanding achievements in public relations practice across Nigeria.
The maiden edition of the prestigious awards ceremony will be held on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at the Abuja Continental Hotel.
According to NIPR, the PRICE Awards will serve as a premier platform for recognising exceptional campaigns, professionals, and institutions setting standards of excellence in strategic communications, creativity, innovation and reputation management in Nigeria.
NIPR President and Chairman of Council, Dr. Ike Neliaku, officially inaugurated the 12-member organising committee in September 2025, following the adoption of the proposal by the Institute’s Council. He described the award as a major milestone in advancing professional standards and strengthening the nation’s global competitiveness in public relations.
“Some of you have done us proud internationally. We are challenging you to now give Nigeria her own world-class public relations awards system,” Neliaku said. He urged the committee to engage key stakeholders and deliver a ceremony befitting the profession.
Chairman of the organising committee and Managing Director/Chief Strategist of Chain Reactions Africa, Israel Jaiye Opayemi, fnipr, expressed commitment to delivering a “best-in-class” awards system that will honour excellence among practitioners at home.
“We have been winning awards globally. Now is the time to celebrate our best minds on home soil,” he said.
The organising committee includes eminent industry leaders such as Dr. Omoniyi Ibietan (Vice Chairman), Dr. Mary Ikoku, Edemekong Uyoh, Adesola Oyawoye, Odoh Diego Okenyodo, Damilola Olujide, Beatrice Okpara, Prince M.G. Duku, Chief Patrick Ukah, Mrs. Chidinma Awak (Secretary), and Kater Amos Foga (Assistant Secretary).
The PRICE Awards will spotlight strategic and impactful PR campaigns, honour distinguished professionals and organisations, and reward emerging talent including students and young practitioners with plaques and prize awards.
Established in 1963 and chartered by law in 1990, NIPR is mandated to regulate public relations practice in Nigeria. It remains one of the country’s most influential professional bodies, with flagship initiatives such as the National Spokespersons Summit and Nigeria Public Relations Week. The Institute also successfully secured exclusive professional recognition for PR practitioners in 2023.
NIPR recently won the hosting rights for the World Public Relations Forum (WPRF) 2026 and the APRA Annual Conference, scheduled for November 15–21, 2026 — a milestone that further reinforces Nigeria’s leadership status in the global public relations community.
