The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, has approved the appointment of Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG Nkechi Eze, BDS, MPH, fspsp, as the Pioneer Director, Directorate of Force Medical Services.
This appointment follows the recent upgrade of the Force Medical Section into a full-fledged Directorate of Force Medical Services, marking a major milestone in the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to comprehensive reforms and enhanced welfare for its personnel.
The establishment of the directorate is part of ongoing efforts by the IGP to institutionalize accessible, efficient, and professional healthcare delivery across the Nigeria Police structure — a crucial step towards improving officer well-being, productivity, and operational efficiency.
A highly respected clinician and seasoned administrator, AIG Nkechi Eze brings over 27 years of service experience to her new role. Born in Umuahia, Abia State, and originally from Agbudu in Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State, she holds a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) from the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University), Ile-Ife, and a Master’s in Public Health (MPH) from the University of Benin.
Throughout her distinguished career, she has served across multiple formations including Oyo, Ekiti, Rivers, the Federal Capital Territory, and Lagos State, earning recognition for her contributions to medical services and personnel welfare within the Force.
In his remarks, IGP Egbetokun congratulated AIG Eze on her appointment and urged her to bring her wealth of clinical experience and administrative expertise to bear in building a world-class medical service system for the Police. He emphasized that the new directorate represents a strategic investment in the health and morale of police officers, reinforcing the Force’s commitment to welfare as a cornerstone of effective policing.
The announcement was made by CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, anipr, mipra, who noted that the Nigeria Police Force remains focused on reform-driven initiatives aimed at improving internal systems, personnel welfare, and operational readiness.
