Cihan Digital Academy Launches Ambitious Free AI Education Initiative Targeting 50,000 African Teens

In a major stride toward advancing technology education in Africa, Cihan Digital Academy has officially launched its โ€œFree AI Education Impact Initiative: Vision for African Teensโ€, an ambitious program aimed at empowering over 50,000 African teenagers with Artificial Intelligence (AI) skills within the next 12 months.

The launch, which took place yesterday at Reagan Memorial Baptist Girlsโ€™ Secondary School, Sabo-Yaba, brought together more than 130 Senior Secondary 3 students from some of Lagosโ€™ leading secondary schools. Participating institutions included:

  • Reagan Memorial Baptist Girlsโ€™ Secondary School, Sabo-Yaba
  • CMS Grammar School, Bariga
  • International School of Lagos, Unilag
  • Baptist Girlsโ€™ Academy, Obanikororo
  • Baptist Academy, Obanikororo

The initiative builds on the Academyโ€™s earlier QuestAI Kids platform, which was designed to introduce young learners to AI fundamentals. Yesterdayโ€™s event marked a significant step forward, evolving from basic awareness to hands-on, practical exposure, bridging the gap between technology consumption and creation among African youth.

According to Cihan Digital Academy, the sessions were structured not only as educational workshops but also as launchpads for future innovators, creators, and leaders. Participants engaged with interactive AI exercises, gaining exposure to real-world applications of the technology and learning how to harness it for problem-solving and innovation.

The program was led by Orimolade Oluwamuyemi A., FIIM, and Oluwagbemiga Jayeoba, whose expertise and mentorship guided students through AI concepts, practical exercises, and discussions on entrepreneurship in the tech space. Their leadership was widely commended for making the sessions both educational and inspiring, sparking curiosity and ambition among attendees.

Cihan Digital Academy emphasized the broader vision of the initiative: to create a generation of African teens who are not just passive consumers of technology but active innovators, capable of contributing to Africaโ€™s digital economy and solving local and global challenges using AI.

In expressing gratitude, the Academy thanked the host school, participating students, teachers, and the internal team for their commitment, energy, and collaboration. The launch represents the first step in a year-long campaign to expand the initiative to thousands of teens across Nigeria and, eventually, the African continent.

โ€œThe future of Africaโ€™s technology ecosystem lies in empowering our youth with the skills and knowledge to create, innovate, and lead,โ€ the Academy said. โ€œThis initiative is our commitment to that future, and we are excited to witness the impact it will have on tens of thousands of young minds.โ€

With this launch, Cihan Digital Academy has set a bold precedent for free, high-quality AI education in Africa, signaling a new era of accessible technology learning and youth empowerment.
