ISOPADEC’s 20-Bed Ultra-Modern Hospital in Umuorji Nears Completion — A Major Boost for Healthcare and Rural Development in Imo State

The Imo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (ISOPADEC) is recording remarkable progress on the construction of a state-of-the-art 20-bed hospital in Umuorji, Ohaji-Egbema Local Government Area, as part of its commitment to strengthen healthcare delivery and promote inclusive development in the state’s oil-producing communities.

Under the visionary leadership of Chief Austin Onyedebelu, Managing Director of ISOPADEC, the project has reached an advanced stage of completion, signaling a new dawn for residents who have long yearned for improved access to medical services.

The modern facility — marked by its distinctive red-roofed design — comprises multiple wings, including patient wards, consulting rooms, well-equipped laboratories, maternity and emergency units, and administrative offices. The hospital is designed to provide high-quality, accessible, and affordable healthcare for residents of Umuorji and neighboring communities.

Chief Onyedebelu noted that the project is in line with Governor Hope Uzodimma’s health infrastructure agenda, which seeks to extend modern medical care to rural and oil-producing areas, ensuring no community is left behind in the state’s development drive.

“This hospital represents our administration’s determination to improve the quality of life for our people,” he said. “By bringing healthcare closer to the grassroots, we are reducing avoidable deaths and giving families renewed hope.”

Once completed, the Umuorji Hospital is expected to create dozens of jobs for healthcare professionals, stimulate economic activity in the area, and serve as a critical health hub for the Ohaji-Egbema region.

The project also aligns with the broader development vision of the Shared Prosperity Government, which prioritizes rural transformation, social welfare, and human capital development through strategic investments in infrastructure, education, and health.

Residents of Umuorji have expressed optimism that the facility will ease their long-standing challenges in accessing medical care, especially for women and children, and reduce the need to travel long distances for treatment.
