The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) have reaffirmed their commitment to promoting responsible data governance and enhancing road safety through a stronger collaborative framework.
This followed a high-level engagement between the Corps Marshal of FRSC, Shehu Mohammed, and the National Commissioner/CEO of the NDPC, Dr. Vincent Olatuji, during an official visit to the FRSC National Headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday, October 7, 2025.
The meeting provided a platform for both agencies to deliberate on strategies to strengthen data protection practices within the transport sector, with a shared focus on ensuring that sensitive information is managed securely and in line with global best standards.
Speaking during the session, Corps Marshal Mohammed underscored FRSC’s commitment to safeguarding the integrity of its data systems while harnessing their value to drive operational efficiency and policy innovation.
He noted that the Corps, being a data-driven organisation, continues to leverage information technology to enhance road safety management, enforcement, and service delivery across the country.
In his remarks, Dr. Olatuji commended the FRSC for its proactive approach to data protection and its openness to collaboration, describing the Corps as a model institution in the public sector’s digital transformation journey.
Both leaders agreed that robust data governance is essential for effective safety interventions, evidence-based policymaking, and improved enforcement processes that can significantly reduce road crashes and save lives.
The visit also underscored the growing synergy between the two institutions in promoting national data protection standards and advancing the use of data to improve public safety outcomes.
