NITDA Partners with ICPC to Promote Transparency and Good Governance through Technology

NITDA Partners with ICPC to Promote Transparency and Good Governance through Technology

The Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, alongside members of his management team, has paid a courtesy visit to the Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, SAN.

The visit underscored NITDA’s commitment to collaborating with the ICPC in leveraging technology to advance transparency, accountability, and good governance across the country.

A major highlight of the partnership is NITDA’s pledge to develop websites for all 774 Local Government Councils in Nigeria. The initiative aims to provide each council with an official online platform where citizens can easily access information on budgets, projects, and government activities.

According to NITDA, the measure will not only enhance citizen engagement but also strengthen Nigeria’s anti-corruption efforts by bringing local governance closer to the people and improving oversight at the grassroots level.

Speaking during the visit, both agencies emphasized that the collaboration reflects a shared resolve to bridge information gaps, reduce corruption risks, and foster public trust in governance.

For Nigerians, the initiative promises:

Easier access to information about local government operations.

Transparent sharing of budgets, projects, and initiatives.

A platform for civic engagement and accountability.

The move aligns with the principles of the United Nations Convention against Corruption, which advocates inter-agency collaboration to prevent corruption before it occurs.

By joining forces, NITDA and ICPC are charting a new course in which technology serves as a powerful tool for openness, cost efficiency, and effective governance.
