Governor Soludo Pledges Support for His Alma Mater, Uga Boys Secondary School

In Igbo culture, giving back to one’s alma mater is a deeply rooted tradition, and Anambra State continues to uphold this legacy. Over the years, prominent figures such as Peter Obi, former governor of Anambra, have demonstrated this commitment by significantly supporting their former schools. Obi’s contributions to Christ the King College (CKC) Onitsha remain a benchmark of this tradition. Now, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, the current Governor of Anambra State, has followed suit.

During a recent visit to Uga Boys Secondary School, his alma mater, Governor Soludo spoke passionately about the impact the institution had on shaping his life. Reflecting on his journey, he stated:

“Today, I had the profound honour of returning to my alma mater, Uga Boys Secondary School. Standing before our cherished badge, I was flooded with memories of the experiences that shaped my journey.

As the first Pioneer Senior Prefect, I have a unique connection with this remarkable institution. I am excited to announce that Uga Boys Secondary School is on the verge of a significant transformation, as substantial investments are being made in schools across our state.

In addition, I have pledged to cover the fees for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for students at Uga Boys for the next five years.

As a proud alumnus, I remain deeply committed to giving back to my alma mater. I believe in the transformative power of education and want to ensure that future generations of students have access to the opportunities they deserve.

May Anambra continue to win!”

This gesture underscores Governor Soludo’s dedication to promoting education in Anambra State. His vision for the development of Uga Boys Secondary School mirrors his broader commitment to transforming the educational landscape in the state.
