In a significant move toward fostering economic collaboration, the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Olayemi Cardoso, welcomed a delegation from the World Bank Group at the CBN headquarters. The delegation, led by Mr. Indermit Gill, Chief Economist and Senior Vice President for Development Economics at the World Bank, aimed to strengthen ties and discuss Nigeria’s economic development trajectory.
The delegation also included Mr. Ndiame Diop, World Bank Country Director for Nigeria, along with other senior officials. Joining Governor Cardoso in the high-level discussions was Deputy Governor of CBN, Philip Ikeazor, underscoring the importance of the meeting.
During the session, the two parties explored areas of collaboration to support Nigeria’s economic growth and development agenda, with a focus on fiscal reforms, financial inclusion, and poverty alleviation. The visit highlights the continued partnership between Nigeria and the World Bank Group as they work together to address the country’s economic challenges and opportunities.
