NITDA Director General Meets Afrelib Academy Team to Discuss Tech Development and Digital Literacy Collaboration

The Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, recently hosted a delegation from Afrelib Academy led by the Executive Director of Operations and Programmes, Mrs. Joice Gomina. The meeting focused on exploring potential collaborations aimed at advancing tech development and digital literacy in Nigeria.

Mrs. Gomina proposed several joint initiatives, including teacher training programs, future boot camps, and a Tech & Career Expo, for which she invited DG Abdullahi to serve as the keynote speaker.

Director General Inuwa expressed strong support for the partnership, highlighting that it aligns with NITDA’s Strategic Roadmap and Action Plan (SRAP 2.0), particularly its emphasis on fostering digital literacy and cultivating talent. He also noted that this collaboration supports President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s priority of accelerating diversification through digitization and innovation.

Inuwa shared details of the ongoing Digital Literacy for All (DL4ALL) Initiative and encouraged the Afrelib Academy team to collaborate with NITDA for a more comprehensive plan and effective implementation.

The National Information Technology Development Agency is committed to implementing policies that drive the development of Nigeria’s IT sector and promote digital literacy across the nation.

Over $370 million secured in Engineering, Procurement, and Construction deals at Afreximbank’s Lagos workshop

During the recently held African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) (www.Afreximbank.com) Intra-African Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) workshop in Lagos participants formalised business deals totalling over US$370 million, a significant step towards empowering African contractors.

 

The deals, signed during the workshop held in Lagos on 28 October, included a US$300-million Global facility agreement to Hassan Allam of Egypt, a US$45-million term sheet to Pavifort Construction of Sierra Leone and a US$25-million term sheet to Afric Cement of Burkina Faso.

Organised to help address the significant gap in Africa’s infrastructure spending, currently standing at over $100 billion annually, which is traditionally awarded to non-African contractors, the workshop brought together key stakeholders to explore transformative solutions to empower African contractors to compete for and secure large-scale projects within the continent.

NNPC Ltd Secures 10-Year Gas Supply Agreement with Dangote Refinery

In a significant development for Nigeria’s industrial sector, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited, through its subsidiary, NNPC Gas Marketing Limited (NGML), has successfully executed a Gas Sale and Purchase Agreement (GSPA) with Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals FZE. The agreement, signed by Barr. Justin Ezeala, Managing Director of NGML, and Aliko Dangote, President/CEO of the Dangote Group, took place at Dangote’s Corporate Head Office in Falomo, Lagos State.

The 10-year deal will see NGML supply Dangote Refinery with 100 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCF/D) of natural gas, which will serve both as power generation fuel and as feedstock for the refinery’s operations in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos State.
