NNEWI, March 20, 2024 – Yesterday marked a significant milestone for the community of Okpunoeze-Nnewi as they witnessed the official commissioning of a crucial road infrastructure project by His Excellency, Governor Chukwuma Soludo. The 3.2km road, located at the Okpunoeze-Nnewi Hotel road, has been identified by locals as one of the busiest arteries within Nnewi.
In a poignant tribute to the community, Governor Soludo reflected on a tragic incident that occurred two years ago during the campaign period. The loss of Mr. Emeka Nwokenagu (EzeB), the Uruagu Ward 1 APGA chairman, to criminal activities highlighted the urgent need for improved infrastructure and security measures.
During a condolence visit to the family of Mr. Nwokenagu, Governor Soludo personally experienced the challenges faced by residents and road users due to the poor condition of the road. Determined to address these issues, Governor Soludo prioritized the reconstruction of the road, recognizing its significance in enhancing the quality of life for the community.
The commissioning ceremony was attended by esteemed dignitaries and community members, including Mrs. Uchenna Nwokenagu, the widow of Mr. Nwokenagu, and his aged mother. Their presence underscored the profound impact of the project on the lives of residents and the broader community.
