The Incoming Permanent Secretary,Federal Ministry of Information and Culture,Mrs Lydia Shehu Jafiya mni,has stated that Information is the wheel of life when it is obtained in the right proportion and at the right place.
She said this at the hand-over ceremony between her and the outgoing Permanent Secretary of the Ministry,Dr Adaora Ifeoma Anyanwutakwu held at the National Press Centre,Radio House,Abuja.
The newly posted Permanent Secretary, said the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture has its unique place as the headquarters of Information Administration and jewels of exhibition for showcasing the culture of our great nation, Nigeria.
She added that the 2021-2025 Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan issued by the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF) will be followed doggedly in order to achieve its laudable benefits for the Ministry and its Agencies.
The Permanent Secretary further appreciated the effort of the Management and staff of Ministry for organizing the ceremony and welcoming her, she solicited their cooperation as they did to the outgoing Permanent Secretary.
Earlier the outgoing Permanent Secretary, Dr Mrs. Adaora Ifeoma Anyanwutaku in her address congratulated the incoming Permanent Secretary on her appointment.
She acknowledged that the event marks another milestone in her career as the curtain of her stewardship in the Ministry is drawn having served for twenty (20) months and ensuring the smooth delivery in the Ministry’s mandate.
Dr Anyanwutakwu noted that in getting acquainted with the dynamics of the Ministry, she has asides being an Administrator became an Information Officer, Cultural Officer, Tourism Officer, Archivist and even a Printer. While also informing that with the assistance of her team of Directors irrespective of lame financial resources have fulfilled obligation regarding staff welfare,established a sick bay for staff, conducted staff promotions in both senior and junior cadres as at when due, and instituted a reward system to recognise hard work and reward excellence among staff.
She appreciated the leadership and support of the Honourable Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the Directors, Heads of Departments and Units, the members of staff, Chief Executives and Heads of the Nineteen (19) Agencies and Parastatals of the Ministry for the encouragement, support and cooperation she received while serving as the Permanent Secretary. She enjoined everyone to accord her successor the same cooperation and support and even more, to enable her succeed in her assignment in the Ministry.
The Director Human Resource Management of the Ministry,Mrs. Grace O. Okani in her remarks,commended the outgoing permanent secretary for her achievements in fulfilling the ministry’s mandate.She prayed for wisdom and understanding to effectively pilot the affairs of her new Ministry.
Mrs Okani welcomed the newly deployed Permanent Secretary to the Ministry while looking forward to a good working relationship and promised to give her the utmost cooperation to enable her take the Ministry to greater heights.
There were goodwill messages from the Managing Director, Nigerian Film Corporation, Jos, Dr. Chidia Maduekwe,Director International Cultural Relations,Memunat Idu Lar,Director Press centre,Mr Sunday Baba and Chairman,Association of Senior Civil Servant of the Ministry.
