The Honourable Minister of Youth and Sports Development @hmsundaydare , on Monday, thanked the European Union (EU) for their continuous support for the Nigerian youth.
Speaking at the commemoration event of the European Union with its Ambassador and the Ambassadors of the 19 EU member states, the Minister commended the organisation for their continuous support for the Nigerian youth in the areas of the EU sounding board which was launched last year, Erasmus Educational Scholarships and the jubilee fellowship which will see young persons undergo a one year paid internship and the support by the United Nations Development Programme(UNDP) and partners driven by the Nigerian government.
In her own remarks, the EU Ambassador, Samuela Isopi said the EU Day is a day to recall the shared values of peace and unity. She also said the theme for this year’s EU Day is the European Year of the Youth. While reiterating the European Union’s commitment to restoring peace in Nigeria, creating job opportunities and economic growth, supporting Nigerian youth and talents and access to skills acquisition.
@hmsundaydare thanked the EU Ambassador for these commitments and stated that his office would always work with EU member states as they work with Nigeria to support the development and actualisation of Nigeria’s vision for the future.
He also appreciated them for their contributions towards the first ever National Youth Conference(NYC) in Nigeria and promised that the Ministry will seek further collaborations in future for the benefit of the Youth.
The EU Ambassador had earlier rolled out several prospective youth initiatives for the benefit of the Nigerian youth.
